Pianos, pool tables, large safes, and marble-top furniture all take longer and need more care than standard household pieces. The single biggest factor. If your furniture is ready to go, nothing needs to be packed or disassembled on the spot, and the access is clear when we pull up, the job moves fast. If we arrive and things still need to be wrapped, packed, or taken apart, that time goes on the clock.
Half an hour of waiting at the start of a job adds $66 to the bill at our rate. It is the easiest cost to avoid and the one customers most often wish they had planned for.
Ground floor access with a clear driveway is the fastest scenario we work in. A second-floor apartment with a narrow staircase and street parking 50 metres away is a very different job for the same volume of furniture.
Every stair carry takes longer than a flat carry. If the truck cannot park close to the door, the crew is walking further per load. Those minutes add up across a full move. If your property has access challenges, mention them upfront so you get an honest time estimate.
Weekday moves from Monday to Friday are the base rate and generally easier to book. Saturday moves carry a three-hour minimum rather than two. Sunday and public holiday moves are $140 per hour plus GST with a four-hour minimum. If your schedule has any flexibility, a midweek move is usually the most cost-effective option for a Perth furniture move.
Always confirm whether a quoted rate includes GST. Some Perth removalists quote excluding it, which adds 10% to every figure. Also ask whether blankets, straps, and trolleys are included or charged separately. A quote that looks lower on paper can end up costing more once those extras are added.

Disassemble what you can the night before. Bed frames, flat-pack shelving, and anything with removable legs or panels should be taken apart before we arrive. This alone can save 30 to 60 minutes on a larger move.
Clear the path before we get there. Check the route from each room to the front door and make sure there is nothing in the way. The same goes for the driveway and any stairs. The crew should be able to move without stopping to shift obstacles.
Book midweek if you can. Monday to Thursday moves avoid the Saturday three-hour minimum and any other weekend uplift some companies charge.
Be honest about access when you get a quote. If there are stairs, a tight stairwell, a booked apartment lift, or limited street parking, say so upfront. It means the time estimate you get is realistic rather than a surprise on moving day.
