Why special items cost more than standard moves
Special items take longer to prepare and move safely. A piano requires a dolly, straps, corner protection, and often two crew members moving in coordinated steps through tight spaces. A pool table needs full disassembly and reassembly. This extra time and equipment is what you're paying for when the rate is higher than a standard furniture move.
What makes the price higher on the day
Stairs at the pick-up or delivery address are the single biggest cost variable for piano and pool table moves. A long carry from truck to door, a tight hallway, or a narrow stairwell adds significant time and sometimes extra crew. Describe the access at both addresses when you call; it's the most important thing we need to know.
When a job is outside our scope
Grand pianos, full-size slate pool tables over 300 kg, and marble table tops over 200 kg require either additional specialist crew or gear we don't carry. We'll tell you this on the call, not on moving day. We'd rather lose the booking than damage an irreplaceable item because we weren't set up for it.
What's included in the special item rate: specialist handling equipment (dollies, straps, glass crates where applicable), careful wrapping and corner protection, loading and unloading, placement at destination, moving blankets as standard.
What's extra: pool table disassembly and reassembly, stair surcharge for multiple flight access, long carry surcharge for distances over 30 metres from truck to door, additional crew for very heavy or oversized items, specialist piano tuning after relocation (referred to a tuner).

We move upright pianos using proper piano dollies and furniture straps. Keys are locked or padded, the piano is wrapped in moving blankets, and movement through doorways and along walls is done in coordinated steps. Access details (stairs, narrow hallways, long carries) need to be described at quote time. Grand pianos require specialist planning; call to discuss.
Pool table moves (with disassembly)
Pool tables must be disassembled for safe moving: the felt is carefully removed, the slate lifted separately if applicable, and the frame dismantled and wrapped. Reassembly at the destination includes relevelling. Slate tables are significantly heavier than MDF and require more crew time. Mention the table type when you call.
Antiques and irreplaceable pieces
Antique furniture, heirloom pieces, and vintage items that can't be replaced need extra wrapping, slower handling, and more communication about the move plan before the day. We discuss the item in detail at quote time and confirm what protection and equipment we'll bring before the booking is finalised.
Large glass, marble, and fragile slabs
Marble table tops, large glass dining tables, stone benchtops, and mirrors are moved with edge protectors, custom crating where needed, and careful positioning in the truck to minimise movement in transit. Weight and size determine whether we need additional crew. Always describe dimensions when you call.

An upright piano move with good access at both ends typically runs two to three hours. A pool table disassembly, move, and full reassembly runs three to five hours. Antiques and large glass pieces sit in the two to four hour range depending on size and access. We give you a time estimate specific to your item and access conditions when you quote.

Northern suburbs are generally the most straightforward for special item moves: wide hallways, single-storey homes, good truck access. Pool table moves in Joondalup and Karrinyup are common because of the size of homes and entertainment rooms in those areas. Access challenges are the exception rather than the rule in this corridor.
Southern and outer suburbs

We send a written quote covering the hourly rate, estimated time, crew size, and any specific equipment or surcharges that apply. You confirm, we book the date. No deposit required.
Move day
The crew arrives with the equipment discussed, works through the handling process for the item type, and moves it carefully to the destination. No rushing, no improvising. Items like pool tables are fully reassembled and relevelled at the destination.
Placed and confirmed
The item is placed where you want it. For pianos, we'll recommend a two to four week acclimatisation period before tuning, which is standard after any move. For pool tables, relevelling is done before we leave. Invoice is for actual hours, matching the written quote.
